Solid Outing for Crusaders at Mississippi "Old Things" Opener

CLINTON, Miss. - The University of Dallas men's track and field team competed in their season opening meet, the Mississippi College "Old Things" Season Opener, on Saturday.

Nico Walz and James Latour both ran the 10000m, taking sixth and seventh place, respectively, 14 seconds apart.  Rory Henry took 15th in the 400m Hurdles, one second behind 15th place Jimmy Bowen of Millsaps.  Caleb Clayton ran the 1500m, finishing 39th with a time of 5:08.18.

Sam McLard ran the 100m Dash, taking 41st.  McLard also ran the 200m with Rory Henry and DaShaun Merritt.  Merritt fared the best, finishing 49th, while Henry and McLard took 57th and 58th, respectively.

"It was a great meet to start the season," said head coach Nick Schneigert.  I was impressed with the times and how we handled everything.  Our distance athletes acted like veterans on the track, it was great to see that.  Our small sprint squad is young, but they showed promise."

The Crusaders are back at it next Saturday, competing in the Jet Relays in Lancaster, Texas.
