Young Crusaders Battled at Huge East Texas Invite on Saturday
COMMERCE, Texas - The University of Dallas men's track and field team competed in the East Texas Invite on Saturday. Nearly 30 teams from all divisions competed in the meet in Commerce, Texas. Freshman Max Crowder (La Marque, Texas) continued improving upon his 200m dash time running a personal best in the event with a wind legal time of 23.03.
UD dual-sport athlete Logan Byrum (Kingsburg, Calif.) PRed in the javelin throw with a distance of 31.65m (103'10"). Byrum also competed in shot put and recorded a distance of 9.73m (31'11.25").
Sam McLard (Flower Mound, Texas) also competed in both the 200m and javelin. McLard ran a PR in the 200m with a time of 30.42 and also threw a distance of 11.31m (37'1") in javelin.
The Crusader distance runners were out in force again, split between the 5000m run and the 10,000m run. Jonathan Cantu (Dallas, Texas) and Ryan Conner (Overland Park, Texas) both ran PRs in the 5000m with times of 17:10.11 and 17:41.25, respectively.
Nicholas Walz (Irving, Texas) and James LaTour (Lubbock, Texas) both debuted in the 10,000m with times of 36:35.47 and 39:28.53.
The Crusaders will compete in their final regular season meet this Saturday, April 17 in Abilene at the McMurry Warhawk Challenge hosted by McMurry University.
