UD Men's Track & Field Runners Boast PR Times at TSU Relays

HOUSTON - The University of Dallas men's track and field team competed in the TSU Relays in Houston, Texas, hosted by Texas Southern on Saturday. Saturday's meet featured teams of all levels, including Division I schools like Grambling State and hosts Texas Southern.

Freshman Max Crowder (La Marque, Texas) made his collegiate debut racing in both the 200m dash and the 4x400m relay. Crowder recorded a wind-assisted time of 23.38 in the 200.

UD dual-sport athlete Logan Byrum (Kingsburg, Calif.) from men's basketball debuted in shot put with a distance of 9.61m (31'6.5").

UD had a trio of distance runners compete in the men's 5000m. Nicholas Walz (Irving, Texas), Ryan Conner (Overland Park, Texas) and James LaTour (Lubbock, Texas) all PR'ed in the event.  Walz ran a 17:28.97, Conner ran 18:04.47 and LaTour ran 18:28.26. LaTour also ran in the 1500m run and finished with a time of 4:57.07.

Luke LaCour (Metairie, La.) ran a time of 2:14.74 in the 800m.

Sam McLard (Flower Mound, Texas) ran a PR in the 100m dash while running into a headwind with a time of 14.97.  He also matched his 200m time that he ran last year at the Hardin-Simmons invitational with a wind-assisted time of 31.36.

The UD 4x400m relay team consisting of LaCour, Walz, Connor, and Crowder debuted with a time of 3:58.44.

The track and field teams will continue the season this weekend at the TLU DIII Challenge in Seguin, Texas on Saturday, March 27.
