OPENING REMARKS
The University of Dallas men's track and field team is set to participate in its first indoor meet since 2014. UD will compete at the Texas Tech Shootout on Friday and Saturday in Lubbock, Texas. The action on Friday begins at 4:00 p.m. Events on Saturday will start about 11:00 a.m.
SEASON PREVIEW
The Crusaders are coming off a fifth place finish at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships, but Kevin McGuirk (Front Royal, Va.) has a solid season breaking the 400m Hurdles school record in five consecutive meets. McGuirk grabbed the first gold medal in three years for the men's team after he secured a first place finish in the 400m hurdles race. McGuirk also placed third in the javelin throw for a bronze medal at the SCAC Championships. UD has a young group on this year's roster that will look to build a new mold for first year head coach Nick Schneigert. Schneigert was hired in August as the new cross country and track and field coach at UD.
ROSTER OUTLOOK
Dallas has four returners from last season's roster. Isaiah Hayes (Arlington, Texas), Solomon Schroder (Coupland, Texas), Shivam Mishra (Jamshedpur, India) and McGuirk will be the quartet leading the young group in 2020. Five new freshman will look to add some good results right away. In this group are two cross country runners (Thomas Lagarde (Linden, Va.) and Caleb Clayton (Kerrville, Texas).
