YEAR IN REVIEW: Men's Track and Field

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas track and field team posted successful times this spring on both the men's and women's side. Head Coach Matthew Barber guided the Crusaders through his first year at the helm.

NOTABLE MOMENTS

  • Junior Paulo Salazar claimed second in Discus Throw with 114'8'' toss at East Texas Time Trials on Feb. 20.
  • Freshman Cameron Mitchell notched fifth in Triple Jump (11.74 meters) at Marc Randle Classic on Mar. 6.
  • As a team, Dallas took fifth out of 16 squads at Walt Disney World Track and Field Open on Mar. 21.
  • Junior Jack Grubner and sophomore Kevin Doherty clinched second place in the Men's 10,000 Meter (36:19.72) and Men's 3000 Meter Steeplechase (10:27.54), respectively.
  • Grubner hit third in the 3000 Meters (10:02.62) at the Hardin-Simmons University Invitational on Apr. 4.
  • Junior Ryan McAnany tallied 4:08.98 minutes on the 1500 Meter in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships on Apr. 24 to finish third in the event.
  • Doherty posted a 16:43.20 mark in the 5000 Meter to clinch fifth at the SCAC Championships.

  • Doherty broke his own record from a year ago with a 10:21.31 minute display in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase at the SCAC Championships on Apr. 24.
  • McAnany set a historic mark (9:58 minutes) in the two mile event on Feb. 20 at the East Texas Time Trials.
