Men's Soccer Defeated by Hendrix

September 8, 2023

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team lost their non-conference match against Hendrix College 5-0 on Friday.  They fall to 0-2-1 on the season.

The Warriors looked the better side from the early stages of the match, enjoying most of the possession and the attacking chances.  But the Crusaders had some venom in them and threatened on the counterattack a number of times in the first half hour, often missing out on a golden opportunity by mere inches on the final pass.

The tone of the game quickly changed when the Warriors scored their first goal from the penalty spot, then doubled their lead from the run of play less than 90 seconds later.  The Crusaders fought tooth and nail to carve out a pair of chances in the final 15 minutes in hopes of halving the deficit before the break, but couldn't find the back of the net.

Despite what the scoreline shows, the Crusaders tightened up their defense in the second half, greatly limiting the number of opportunities for Hendrix who enjoyed the majority of the possession.  But the Warriors did manage to break through from the run of play to make it 3-0 in the 61st minute, before making it 5-0 after two more penalty kicks were awarded.

With just 17 minutes left after the fifth goal, the match was well out of reach for Dallas.
