Men's Soccer Falls 5-2 to LeTourneau in Season Opener

LONGVIEW, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team lost an eventful clash with LeTourneau University 5-2 in their season opener.

The first half of the game was nothing short of thrilling, with LeTourneau University taking an early lead. Graysen Crawford opened the scoring for LeTourneau, finding the back of the net just inside the 10 minute mark with an unassisted goal, putting his team ahead 1-0. Miguel Alvarez added to the lead with another unassisted goal in the 16th minute, making it 2-0 in favor of LeTourneau.

The Crusaders showed reslience and quickly responded. An own goal in the 23rd minute halved the deficit, and the team continued to press. Their efforts paid off when Andre Brkic scored at the stroke of half time, assisted by Victor Salvo, leveling the score at 2-2 as the first half concluded.

The second half witnessed a late surge by LeTourneau. Tyler Burks netted a goal in the 76th minute, assisted by Axel Pangni and Caleb Nelson, giving LeTourneau the lead at 3-2. Axel Pangni extended their advantage in the 81st minute, with an assist from Juan Angel Morales, making it 4-2 in favor of LeTourneau.

Garrett Thom sealed the victory for LeTourneau with a goal at in the 87th minute, bringing the final score to 5-2 in favor of the Yellowjackets.
