Men's Soccer Defeated by Trinity

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team lost their conference matchup with Trinity University 8-0 on Friday.  They fall to 2-6-2 on the year and are 0-2 in conference play.

The Crusaders were a bit unlucky to go into the half time break down 2-0.  Having defended quite well for most of the first half, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute on an unfortunate own goal by Aidan Cady.  The junior centerback has been nothing short of spectacular for the Crusaders all season, but the shot by Trinity skimmed off the top of his head, sailing high into the air and drifting just under the crossbar into the top corner.

Though the second goal was a legitimate finish, Dallas could easily have just been chasing one goal at the half.  Anthony Gonzalez had a large hand in keeping it close, racking up 10 saves in the first half alone before exiting the game with 14 to his name.  A good five of those shots might not have been saved by any other keeper in the conference.

The flood gates opened for Trinity in the second half, as they made it 5-0 after 60 minutes.  The issue was only exacerbated when the Crusaders went down to 10 men after a red card in the 62nd minute.  The Tigers would ad three more to their tally before the final whistle, winning 8-0.
