Crusaders Downed by UTD

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team lost their non-conference matchup with the University of Texas-Dallas 7-0 on Friday.  They fall to under .500 at 2-3-2 on the year.

For 56 minutes, this was a very tight contest.  The Comets inarguably were better in possession and looked to be in control of the game, but the Crusaders defended extremely well for the better part of the first half and were threatening on the counter-attack.  The final piece was missing, as the Crusaders were unable to test the keeper, but they were still in with a shout, despite being down 1-0 after 25 minutes.

But the flood gates opened when the Comets scored their second goal in the 57th minute and made it 3-0 less than three minutes later.  Enzo Marcello nearly scored in bizarre fashion in the 86th minute when he charged down a hospital ball to the UTD center back as he tried to clear it up field.  The ball slammed off Marcello and sailed directly for goal, the the Comets' keeper was able to track down the ball having been caught off his line.

Goals in the 67h, 75th, 76th, and 85th minutes made it 7-0 for the Comets, as the Crusaders suffer their biggest defeat of the season.
