Crusaders Defeat ETBU On the Road

MARSHALL, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team won their non-conference matchup with East Texas Baptist 2-1 on Saturday, improving to 2-0 on the year.

Things were tight in the first half.  The Tigers had the lion's share of chances early in the half, but Anthony Gonzalez came up with five saves to keep them out of the net in the first 45.  The Crusaders were able to carve out some chances as the half wore on and struck first with a goal by Ben Utz in the 37th minute, assisted by Luke Wilmington.

Dallas nearly doubled their lead by the end of the first half with a flurry of chances in the final five minutes, but would have to wait until the second half.  Victor Salvo made it 2-0 seven minutes into the second half, driving it into the bottom left corner of the net.

The Tigers were immediately on the front foot from there as they desperately pressed to clsoe the deficit.  They rattled off 17 shots in the second half, 10 of them in the last 15 minutes of the game.  They would halve the deficit in the 74th minute, but couldn't do more than that as the Crusaders held on for their second win of the season.
