Men's Soccer Defeated by #2 Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team lost their conference matchup with Trinity University 6-0 this afternoon.

The Crusaders faced arguably their toughest opponent of the year in Trinity, who are ranked #2 in the NCAA Division III National Rankings and are favorites to win the conference championship with a 13-0 overall record.  The Tigers were on the board inside the first 10 minutes, but were frustrated for large stretches of the first half as the Crusaders fought desperately to keep them out of the net.  For 30 minutes, they were able to do just that, but the Tigers added a second goal in the 39th minute to extend their lead.

It was an uphill battle, and the Tigers certainly showed that they have earned that #2 ranking, outshooting the Crusaders 36-3.  Goncalo Pernas put on a heroic display between the sticks, racking up 14 saves.  The Tigers scored four goals in the second half to make it a 6-0 game and hand the Crusaders their worst loss of the season.
