Men's Soccer Suffers Overtime Heartbreak vs Colorado College

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team lost their conference matchup with Colorado College 2-1 in double overtime to fall to 4-5 on the season (1-1 in conference).

Colorado College were the much better side, particularly in the first 20 minutes of the game, but it would be the Crusaders who struck first, as they threatened on the counterattack all night.  Against the run of play, Karson Pannell netted the first goal of the game in the 20th minute after a brilliant low cross in by Jose Salinas-Arreola from the right side of the box.  From there, the Crusaders defended desperately for the final 25 mintues of the half, withstanding an onslaught by the Tigers to go into the second half with the 1-0 lead.

The Crusdaers frustrated the Tigers to no end.  The pressure on the UD back line only grew, but they didn't crack under the stress.  The Crusaders had some chances of their own in fact; as the desperation grew for the Tigers, they threw numbers forward, leaving the window open on a number of occasions for the quick counter by the Crusaders.  Though they got into some threatening areas, the Crusaders could not widen the gap.  Instead, the Tigers finally got their breakthrough in the 82nd minute with a shot form the top of the box that curled into the side netting.  With neither team able to score the winner in regulation, the game was ent to golden goal overtime.

It took 12 minutes and 24 seconds to decide the winner, and it was Colorado College who found the back of the net to put a sour end to an otherwise brilliant team performance by the Crusaders.
