Crusaders Topple Roos Thanks to Hat-Trick Hero Chase Reynolds

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team snapped their four game skid with an electric 3-2 victory against Austin College at home on Friday.

The Roos were firmly in control for the first 15 minutes, but it was the Crusaders who nearly went up 1-0 against the run of play when a quick counter saw Antonio Gachineiro through on goal with just the keeper to beat.  But Connor Tullis did well to come off his line, smothering the would be goal to keep it level.  The Crusaders began to settle in after that, but were still more threatening on the counter than they were in keeping possession and were kept in the game by their superb defending.  One of those quick counters would ultimately pay off, as Chase Reynolds opened the scoring in the 36th minute after dispossessing a Roo defender in his own half and tearing down the field into the box for the one-on-one chance.  The firs half would end 1-0 for Dallas.

The Roos leveled it up in the first five minutes of the second half, but Reynolds put the Crusaders right back on top 2-1 with his second goal of the game.  Chaos ensued for the rest of the half, and the Roos were able to level it up in the 61st minute off a penalty.  With both teams pressing for the win, and golden-goal overtime looming, it was up to Chase Reynolds yet again to finish things off.  Yet again, he took the ball off the foot of a Roo defender at midfield and played the ball into Jose Martinez.  They had the two-on-one, Martinez played Reynolds through to face the keeper alone, and Reynolds buried it in the back of the net with barely 30 seconds remaining.  It would be the deciding goal, as the Crusaders won 3-2.
