Men's Soccer Done In By Early PK's

SHERMAN, Texas. - The University of Dallas men's soccer team lost their non-conference matchup with Austin College this evening, dropping to 3-4 on the year.

Looking to get back in the win column after dropping three straight, things could not have gone worse for the Crusaders in the first half.  The Roos, who are struggling themselves, coming into this game with a 1-6 record, found themselves up 2-0 after just 24 minutes having been awarded two penalty kicks.  The penalties came mere seconds apart from each other, the Crusaders suddenly needing to dig themselves out of a hole.

It certainly looked as though they were going to do just that, as they looked the far better team for much of the game.  But the Roos had the luxury of the lead, and were able to defend in numbers.  Brady McNamara pulled one back for UD, also scoring from the penalty spot, with just under 20 minutes left to play.  Desperation filled the air in the dying minutes, as the Roos were clinging to what they hoped was their second win of a difficult season, and the Crusaders searched for the equalizer.

In the end, they would not find the breakthrough.  The Roos held on for the 2-1 win, handing the Crusaders their fourth loss of the season.
