Crusaders Cannot Slow Tigers in 2nd Half on Saturday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Dallas men's soccer team dropped a 5-2 result at Colorado College on Saturday afternoon. After taking a 1-0 lead at halftime, the Crusaders surrendered four goals in less than 12 minutes and would match its total goals allowed in six matches this season in the second half.

Ethan Johnson (Los Ranchos, N.M.) put the Crusaders on the board at the 29:18 minute mark. Chase Reynolds (Southlake, Texas) picked up the assist.

Colorado College had outshot the Crusaders 10-4 at halftime, but only one attempt was on the mark with UD's Goncalo Pernas (Lisbon, Portugal) making one of his five saves in the game.

The Tigers kept the offensive pressure going and would break through quickly in the final stanza. Jackson Silverstein netted the equalizer at the 47:58 minute mark on passes from Miles Montgomery and Mason Davis. At 49:04, Montgomery found Kiran Singh for the go-ahead goal. A little over a minute later John Schuler hit a penalty kick and then he would get his second straight goal at the 57th minute to finish the outburst. Silverstein and Singh were able to add to their points with helpers.

The Crusaders finished with eight shots in the game, and would get another goal on the board with Nat Kajiwara (Southlake, Texas) finding the back of the goal at 65:24 on an assist from Jose Martinez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras). It was the first goal of the campaign for Kajiwara.

Colorado College ended the scoring with Skyl Stark-Ragsdale at the 69:38 mark.

Corner kicks were nearly even favoring the Tigers 7-6, but the team's combined for 10 of them in the first half.

Keleher Felton made one save against three shots faced in 90 minutes. Pernas would work 81:05 minutes and Caleb Strange (Argyle, Texas) completed the remaining time in goal.

The goal by Johnson was his first collegiate goal and first for UD to score at Colorado College since 2015 in the regular season. Four matches, including the 2015 SCAC Tournament, had Dallas scorelss. This is the first time since the team's joined the league in 2011 that the Crusaders scored multiple goals at Colorado Springs. 

Reynolds added to his team lead in points with nine and has registered a point in three straight road games. 

Colorado College improved to 4-1-1 on the year and 4-0-1 in conference play. Dallas moved to 2-4-1 on the season and in conference.

Dallas has a final regular season match on April 10 at 1 p.m. versus Southwestern University.
