Gents Goal in 82nd Minute sinks UD Men's Soccer on Road

SHREVEPORT, La. – The University of Dallas men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 road contest at Centenary College on Sunday evening. This game had originally been scheduled for Saturday, March 7. The team's played scoreless through 80 minutes, but the Gents grabbed what would be the winning goal in the 82nd minute by Andres Bautista.

With less than 10 minutes left in regulation, Bautista secured the goal on a pass that was from Xavier Noyola-Ramirez. Dallas could find an equalizer, so they fell for a consecutive time in Shreveport, the first since it happened in the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Minutes before Centenary's goal, Jose Martinez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) had placed one of UD's four shots on goal. Chase Reynolds (Southlake, Texas), Tomas DePetris (Houston, Texas), and Antonio Gachineiro (Satilde Paulo, Brazil) also landed shots on frame.

Following the goal, Centenary had a foul and Bautista was issued a yellow yard, which there were seven in the match. Dallas also drew a yellow card in that last portion of the post. Reynolds had the final shot for UD in the 90th minute with a shot attempt that went high.

There were seven cards given out in this match. Centenary's offense turned in double-digit shot totals each half for a 27-12 total. Dallas took three corner kicks in the first half but would be outdone 5-3 overall.

Goncalo Pernas (Lisbon, Portugal) had seven saves in 90 minutes and did withstand six shot attempts in the second stanza. Sami Borchalli faced four shots in his full 90 minutes at the field for Centenary.

"This is the best Centenary team I have seen since they made the move from D1," Head Coach David Hoffmann credited. "Very athletic and competitive spirit."

"Our team defending is strong," reflected Hoffmann. "In attack we did not do enough collectively or for long enough. We were good in pockets, but we need to do better when building out of the back."

Dallas has had all three games this season determined by a goal.

Dallas will play at University of St. Thomas a week from today on the road at 3 p.m.
