KICKOFF
The University of Dallas men's soccer team is ready for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) men's soccer tournament which will be held November 2nd – 4th at Southwestern University. The Crusaders (8-7, 7-6 SCAC) have been tabbed the No. 5 seed in this year's tournament. UD will face off with Texas Lutheran University on Friday (11/2) in the quarterfinals. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
These two teams just squared off against one another in the last part of the regular season, playing two matches in nine days. TLU (10-7, 9-6 SCAC) who was granted the No. 4 seed, won both matchups against Dallas this year. The Bulldogs won 1-0 in Irving on October 19th off a header shot by Luis Green in the 34th minute, which would be the deciding moment in the match. The Crusaders fell to TLU in Seguin on October 28th 2-1 in the first overtime period. Chase Reynolds (Southlake, Texas) scored the equalizer for Dallas in the 86th minute, but Green scored in the golden goal in the 97th minute to push the Bulldogs past Dallas for the season-sweep.
Dallas has now qualified for the SCAC tournament the past five years. UD last faced TLU in the conference tournament in 2016. The two teams tied, but the Bulldogs advanced on penalty kicks. The Crusaders are 0-2 all-time against TLU in the tournament.
UD NOTES
- Reynolds led the team with a career-high in goals (4) and points (12). He also led the team for the second-straight year in assists, dishing out four in 2018.
- Dallas finished second in the conference, allowing only 15 goals all year. UD also finished third-best in the SCAC with a 0.97 goals-against average.
- Dallas allowed the fewest goals in a season since 2007, when that team allowed 10 goals.
- Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) allowed the fewest amount of goals in his career (13).
- Dallas was previously ranked No. 6 in the regional rankings. Three conference teams are currently ranked in the the west regional rankings. (Trinity #3, Colorado College #5, Southwestern University #6). They have played four team overall that have been ranked in this region.
