GEORGETOWN, Texas – Tomas DePetris (Houston, Texas) directed a free-kick from the right side just outside the box into the back of the netting that lifted the University of Dallas men's soccer team to a 2-1 advantage in the 85th minute. The freshman's heroics late in the match gave the Crusaders their second win in a row and 5 out of the past six outings. That lone contest was a draw versus Austin College.

Prior to that eventual gamewinner, the Crusaders and Southwestern were locked in a 1-1 tie from the start of the second half. Nat Kajiwara (Southlake, Texas) got Dallas on the board at the 18:41 minute mark. Eric Haigh (Frisco, Texas) made a deep throw-in from the right side of the field and Kajiwara controlled the deflection for a sharp strike that counted for his team-best fifth goal. The rookie scored for the second match in a row on the road, and has tallied goals in the last three-of-four contests.

The Pirates earned the equalizer from Carlos Huntley-Jimen on a long free kick that lofted into the goal with two seconds in the first half left. That knotted the score until DePetris scored his second goal of his career late in the second frame. Southwestern, who dropped to 3-5-3 overall and 1-3-3 in conference, only had six shots (3 per half) in the game. The Crusaders amassed 19 with 14 in the first stanza. Despite the high volume of shot attempts, UD only put four on goal.

Dallas continues its best start in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play with a 5-0-2 mark.  The Crusaders are the only team in the league without a loss through the halfway point of conference play. However, their 17 points are one short of Trinity University, who lead the SCAC. Overall UD improved to 6-1-2.

"It was Another very competitive SCAC match where had to work very hard to be in the game. Although late in the game, an injury to captain Sean Taylor tested the boys mentally, as did the set piece goal against us with seconds remaining in the first half. The freshmen chipped in heavy with goals from Nat and Tomas, and it was an exceptional free kick that seperated the two teams." - Head Coach David Hoffmann remarks on Sunday's match
