SEGUIN, Texas – One goal was enough for the University of Dallas men's soccer team to defeat Texas Lutheran University on Friday night on the road and remain unbeaten in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play. Dallas now has 14 points in conference, which is the most for the program after six games since joining in 2012. The previous high was 13 points in 2015 (4-1-1). In both of these seasons, UD has picked up its only wins against Trinity University.

After both squads played a scoreless first half, Nat Kajiwara (Southlake, Texas) produced the eventual game-winning goal seven minutes into the second frame. Kajiwara's fourth goal of the campaign tied a team-high and was the first on the road for the freshman. Teammate Chase Reynolds (Southlake, Texas) was credited his third assist to give him sole possession of the top spot in that category. A pass came from the right side and Kajiwara shot from across the box to the bottom right corner.

The Crusaders attempted three more shots than TLU each half and had a 17-11 advantage. Both sides recorded four corner kicks, with the home team taking all four in the last frame. Dallas' defense held the Bulldogs scoreless to make them the fourth opponent – all from conference – to be blanked this season. Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) picked up his third shutout win in the past four matches, while making five saves in the process. Brendan Soto was saddled with the loss after making eight saves against nine shots faced in 90 minutes. The Bulldogs fell to 2-6-2 overall and 1-4-1 in SCAC play.

Dallas remains in second place behind No. 4 Trinity University by a point after the top-five ranked Tigers defeated Centenary College 4-1 on Friday. The Crusaders are a point in front of Colorado College, who sit in third.

In addition to Dallas' best start in the SCAC at this juncture, the program last displayed at least this many wins in the month of September was in 2008 when it went 5-1-1. During the program's highest win (17) and win percentage (.921) season in 2007, the Crusaders rattled off a 7-0-1 record.

QUOTABLE

"TLU's keeper made a number of quality saves in the match. It was a relief when Chase found Nat in a great goalscoring position. The SCAC is a tough conference to pick up points in. Every team is capable of winning so these were valuable three points on the road." – Head Coach David Hoffmann remarks on Friday's result
