Men's Soccer notches 2nd Straight Shutout with 4-0 Final over Gents

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team won its third straight match and remained unblemished in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play after a 4-0 victory over Centenary College on Friday. The Crusaders have recorded back-to-back shutouts and have three overall this campaign. Dallas is 4-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play, which gives the squad sole possession for 1st in the standings after No. 24 Colorado College topped Austin College 3-0.

The Crusaders utilized a pair of goals in each half to secure a season-high in tallies on the scoring column. Reigning SCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, Chima Ogueri (Garland, Texas), made another strong case with five points coming off two goals and an assist. Nat Kajiwara (Southlake, Texas) etched his third goal of the season – all at home – to start the match barley three minutes in with UD ahead. Hunter Haugland (Bixby, Okla.) dished his second assist of the year and now has six points in the past three consecutive matches. Ogueri scored on the left side of the netting at the 30:41 minute mark to reflect a 2-0 edge that carried into halftime.

In the second frame, Ogueri was able to beat two Centenary defenders and went on the right side for his personal-best fourth goal of the season. He had three his freshman year. Oliver Rivers (Horsham West Sussex, England) and A.J. Zaugg (Dallas, Texas) set the play up with a double assist.

Trae Hampton (Paducah, Ky.) completed the scoring with a goal that came off a rebound from a save Centenary's goalie Kaleb Behm could not contain. Behm (0-5-2) made eight saves, while his counterpart Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) improved to 3-0-1 with three saves on his clean sheet.

The Crusaders claimed their second win at home in as many matches in 2017, as they outshot the Gents 25-4 and placed almost half (12) of those attempts on frame. The total amount of goals scored was the most for Dallas since October 2nd, 2016 in Irving against its same foe as Friday.
