Haugland's Goal the Difference in Men's Soccer 1-0 Win at Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team topped Schreiner University 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The victory capped a 2-1-1 road trip and lifted the Crusaders to 3-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). After Friday's 3-2 upset at No. 4 Trinity, Dallas only needed one goal for its first shutout victory of 2017. Schreiner moved to 2-5 on the season and 0-3 in SCAC play.

Hunter Haugland (Bixby, Okla.) provided the only goal of the match with his second of the season and in as many games. His gamewinner occurred in the 62nd minute with Chase Reynolds (Southlake, Texas) being credited with his second assist over the weekend.

The Crusaders produced 21 shots as a team but only had four shots on frame. Haugland and Andrew Ciancone (Houston, Texas) tied game-highs in shot attempts with four apiece. The duo each had a shot on goal. Nat Kajiwara (Southlake, Texas) and Reynolds tallied the other shots on target. Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) and Caleb Strange (Argyle, Texas) split 45 minutes per half in the goalkeeper position. Neither recorded a save as the Mountaineers only managed two shots the entire match.

This match was the first time in 2017 that UD did not go into overtime. Entering today, the Crusaders amassed 405:41 minutes with four straight games going extra frames. The victory counted for 130 for the program's all-time winning coach, David Hoffmann.
