THE LEAD

The University of Dallas men's soccer team (7-7-1, 4-6-1 SCAC) continues a four-game road trip at Austin College (1 p.m.) on October 21 and Centenary College (12 p.m.) on Oct. 23. The Crusaders are 2-3 overall in true road matches this season and went 1-1 last weekend. Dallas prevailed in overtime, 2-1, at Southwestern University before being blanked at Texas Lutheran University and falling 1-0.

The Crusaders are currently in fifth place with 13 points in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). With three matches to play this fall – all against league foes – Dallas is looking to secure one of the top six spots for the tournament hosted at Friday's venue from November 4-6.

UD NOTES

- Luke Schwarz (Tucson, Ariz.) leaped ahead of the team in points when he accumulated three last Friday with an assist and golden goal on a penalty kick. Schwarz performance earned him United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Player of the Week.

- Schwarz currently has a career-high 17 points and is tied with Barton Holdridge (Fort Worth, Texas) with six goals for team-highs.

- Chima Ogueri (Garland, Texas) rounds out the top three scorers with a trio of goals.

- Holdridge, Andrew Ciancone (Houston, Texas), Hunter Haugland (Bixby, Okla.), and Schwarz all have taken at least 20 shots.

- Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas) has made all 15 starts in goal, and notched 47 saves. He has one personal clean sheet and been part of all three team shutouts. His goals against average (GaAvg) is a 1.37-clip.

UD SEASON STATS

SCOUTING THE 'ROOS

Austin College (9-6-1, 6-5 SCAC) won in its last match on Sunday by a 1-0 final at Schreiner University. The 'Roos have won five-of-seven with their only pair of setbacks against the top two teams in the conference standings. This includes a 1-0 defeat at No. 1 Trinity University last Friday. Austin College is 5-1-1 at home and enters the weekend tied for third with Southwestern with 18 points.

Phillip Le paces the offense with a team-high and conference best 12 goals. He also has a pair of assists to boast 26 points. 24 of his 46 shots have been on frame. Thomas Quick is also in double-digits in points with 13. He has kicked four goals and dished five assists. Juan Ramirez is tied for the team lead in helpers with Quick and has the other multi-goal stats on the year to result in nine points. Joseph Khalaf has 1,366:34 minutes logged in 16 starts as the goalkeeper. He has managed 81 saves (2nd in the SCAC) and a .853 save percentage (1st in SCAC).

Austin College Season Stats

In the earlier matchup at Crusader Field this season, Dallas fell 1-0 as Le scored in the 41st minute. Khalaf had four saves and the 'Roos made two team saves for six overall. UD's Gamueda had a season-high eight saves. The last meeting these programs had in Sherman, Texas, was in 2014. Dallas won 2-1 with Holdridge scoring and Ben Mannings (Bath, England) earning an assist. Last season, the match was cancelled due to poor field conditions and had no impact on the final postseason standings.

Centenary College (4-11, 1-10 SCAC) has dropped the past seven matches, all within conference play. The Gents fell by one, 3-2, last Friday at Schreiner University and were topped, 6-0, on Sunday at top ranked Trinity. Centenary is 2-4 at home this year.
