Men's Soccer topped 1-0 on Sunday at Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team (7-7-1, 4-6-1 SCAC) fell 1-0 at Texas Lutheran University (4-11, 4-7 SCAC) on Sunday. This evened the season series with each team having prevailed at its own venue.

Both teams attempted four shots on goal throughout the contest, with neither side able to muster any type of scoring in the first half. An own goal by the Crusaders in the 60th minute proved to be the difference as the home team's defense held up throughout the remainder of the game.

Dallas posted eight shots in both halves. In the second stanza, the road team registered seven shots through just under the first 20 minutes. After the goal for Texas Lutheran, this included five straight attempts for the Crusaders, with a pair blocked by defenders and another pair stopped by TLU's goalkeeper Brendan Soto. Dallas only had one shot after the 63:17 minute mark, which was on frame from Friday night's hero Luke Schwarz (Tucson, Ariz.). The team's leader in points had his look saved by Soto at the 83:10 mark.

The Bulldogs did gain more possession in the final portion of the match, with UD battling successfully to keep the score within one. With under two minutes to go, the Crusaders got whistled offside and an equalizer was never achieved.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

- Dallas outshot the Bulldogs 16-12. Both squads matched same respective attempts in each half.

- Hunter Haugland (Bixby, Okla.) placed half of UD's shots on goal and tied Andrew Ciancone (Houston, Texas) with a game-high four shots. Ciancone notched the other shot on target along with Schwarz's lone attempt.

- Ben Mannings (Bath, England) was the other Crusaders to log multiple shots with three.

- Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas) only had one blemish in 90 minutes and collected three saves.

- His counterpart Brendan Soto earned the win with three saves in the latter 45 minutes. Victor Rodriguez had the other save in the start.

- David Ching joined the trio of players with a game-high four shots. Guillermo Guerra had the other multi-shot performance with a pair. One of those was on goal, as were two others for individuals Andrew Morales and Colin Nunley.

- Corner kicks were nearly even, as TLU grabbed the favorable advantage with four-of-five in the second stanza. UD had three-of-four in the opening half.

- After combining for 28 fouls in the match at Irving, Texas, the teams combined for 10 overall.
