Men's Soccer falls 1-0 Friday to Austin College

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team (5-5, 2-4 SCAC) could not get on the board Friday evening against Austin College (6-4-1, 3-3 SCAC). After 40 minutes of scoreless soccer, the league leader in goals, Phillip Le, gave the 'Roos the lone point needed for the match.

Le completed his goal at the 40:26 minute mark and was able to roll the ball past a diving Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas) after his initial shot deflected off the left post. The carom rebounded back to a moving Le as his second chance tap got in on the other side of the goal. That lifted AC to 1-0 edge at halftime and the home team never landed an equalizer.

The Crusaders gained early momentum with the first three shots of the match, including a team save result on Barton Holdridge (Fort Worth, Texas). Dallas made four of the first five shots. Both teams ended the opening stanza with seven shots apiece. The final two attempts on both sides were big save results under the last two minutes. UD's Garrett Hammer (Colleyville, Texas) had the first big effort with a header off a throw in that was corralled by the 'Roos' goalie Joseph Khalaf. At the 44:09 minute mark the opponent's Jaun Ramirez was denied by goalkeeper counterpart Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas).

In the second half, neither side scored but each had opportunities to get on the board. Three of the shots by Dallas in this frame were saved. The 'Roos made eight shots and had half of them turned away by Gamueda.
