Allen headlines All-SCAC Men's Soccer Awards

LAWRENCVILLE, Ga. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) released the All-SCAC Men's Soccer Awards on Friday. Five members of the University of Dallas would be named with honors, highlighted by senior Colton Allen (Roanoke, Texas). The mark is the highest amount of recipients from the Crusaders since joining the SCAC five years ago.

Allen would notch his second consecutive All-SCAC First Team spot, and his second postseason conference award overall. The forward ranked second on the squad with five goals and tied second with 10 points. Part of his strong offensive numbers was when the senior pounded his first career hat trick in a 6-0 final at Centenary College. Allen's trio of goals were the first by a Dallas player since 2008, and first in a road contest since 2007. Allen also netted a game-winner in a 1-0 result at home versus Centenary. He was named Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week for Week 8.

Junior Barton Holdridge (Forth Worth, Texas) was named to his first All-SCAC Team receiving recognition on the second team. Holdridge posted career-highs in points and goals with 14 and seven, respectively. The pair of category numbers were also team-bests for the forward. Holdridge had two multi-scoring matches, including a come-from-behind 2-1 victory at home versus Austin College. Holdridge's biggest moment may have been the game-tying goal in the remaining 23 seconds of regulation to force a draw at Colorado College.

Wrapping up the honors for UD were a trio of All-SCAC Honorable Mentions: juniors Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas), Tommy Byrd (Mansfield, Texas), and sophomore Luke Schwarz (Tucson, Ariz.). Each received their first postseason accolade with the conference.

Gamueda boasted a career-high 18 starts and 1,634:25 minutes between the posts as a goalie for the Navy and White. He amassed 71 saves, a 77.2 save percentage, and 1.16 goals allowed average. The keeper also was named SCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week on two occasions, and managed to be part of six shutouts this fall.

Byrd also made all 18 starts and helped on the defense be part of six shutouts. Schwarz would managed a team-high four assists and tied second on the team with 10 points. His three points were a career-most.

Dallas finished the season with an 8-8-2 record and 7-4-2 mark against the SCAC. The win total versus league foes and points (23) set program-bests for UD in five years with the conference.

"Note: Coaches voted for first team and second team – with each voted team consisting of three defenders, three midfielders, three forwards, one goalkeeper and one at-large selection. A first-team vote was worth two points and a second-team vote was worth one point. Any player who received at least two different votes from the coaches, but did not receive enough votes to earn either first or second team honors, was named Honorable Mention. Coaches could not vote for their own players."
