Gamueda tabbed Week 9 Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - On Monday, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced University of Dallas men's soccer junior Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas) the Defensive Player-of-the-Week. It is the second time this season and in the goalkeeper's career to receive the accolade. He is the third member of the Dallas squad to garner a Player-of-the-Week honor as senior Colton Allen (Roanoke, Texas) received Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week last week. Freshman Andrew Ciancone (Houston, Texas) also earned Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week this fall.
Gamueda only got to play in one game this week for the Crusaders, but it was a difficult one against No. 16 Colorado College. For the second time this season, the two programs would battle to a draw, this time in a scoreless contest. Gamueda made seven saves to preserve his sixth shutout of the year. The keeper helped lead a UD squad that blanked the top-25 ranked opponent on a field that was tought to play in with the elements.
Dallas clinched the No. 3 spot in the SCAC Tournament, which will be at Colorado College on November 6-8. The Crusaders play at 1:30 p.m. against Schreiner University.
