Men's Soccer forces another Draw with No. 16 Colorado College on Friday

IRVING, Texas – On a windy and rainy evening, the University of Dallas men's soccer team (8-7-2, 7-4-2 SCAC) would finish in a draw against No. 16 Colorado College (12-2-3, 10-1-2 SCAC) on Friday. It is the second time this season Dallas has forced the top 25th nationally ranked foe into a deadlock final. It is also the third-straight contest these programs have tied and fourth of the last six. Three of those meetings have occurred at Crusader Field.

Dallas has secured third place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) standings, while the Tigers are in second place and will host the conference tournament on November 6-8.

In this bizarre match, the Crusaders sent the first shot of the game on a wide left result from sophomore Luke Schwarz (Tucson, Ariz.). The visitors would record the remaining five shots of the half.

In the second stanza, the rain and wind periodically would let up, but an already soaked field played a factor as the ball would halt at times in the standing puddles. The Tigers did take manage a 10-2 shot advantage in this frame, and would utilize this in their 19-4 difference overall.

By the end of regulation, the squads' were heading to their third-straight overtime when facing each other in the scoreless match. Senior Colton Allen (Roanoke, Texas) gave the home team's lone shot in extra regulation, but it would be nabbed by the Tigers' goalkeeper Theo Hooker (12-2-3).

After the Crusaders held off four shots by CC, the remaining 10 minutes in the second overtime would result in neither side getting a shot. It is the first 0-0 match for Dallas since October 13, 2012 against Friday's opponent. It is the third season in the past four that the Navy and White have garnered two ties. UD had a pair in 2014.

Junior Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas) made seven saves against all shots faced to give his team a chance to find a game-winner. He preserved his sixth shutout, and still has five shutout wins on the year.

"We defended well throughout the game and Tino had a huge save to keep us in the match," Head Coach David Hoffmann stated. "Taking a point off of a nationally ranked team is a solid result."

Attempting shots for the Crusaders were freshman Bryan Mora (Tomball, Texas), Allen, and Schwarz – led the team with two. Schwarz and Allen each had a shot on goal, and Schwarz logged the lone corner kick in the game.

Colorado College forced 12 corner kicks, including seven in the second half. Max Grossenbacher produced a game-high five shots, while Christian Wulff and Griffin Wesley followed with four and three, respectively. Keenan Wesley also had a multi-shot game with a pair of attempts. Hooker worked a complete 110 minute match and saved both shots faced.
