Holdridge ties Career-high in Goals; Forces Overtime Draw with 23 seconds left at Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Dallas men's soccer team (1-2-1, 0-0-1 SCAC) finished Friday's match at Colorado College (1-1-2, 0-0-1 SCAC) in a 1-1 draw to open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play. It is the second-straight contest the squads have competed to a deadlock through regulation, and third of the previous seven meetings to result in a tie.

Dallas displayed a flair for the dramatic in this match, with 23 seconds remaining junior Barton Holdridge (Fort Worth, Texas) found the back of the net for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

Holdrige's game-tying goal lifted the forward to a matching a career-high his rookie season. He currently leads the team with 13 shot attempts and placed both of his on goal today. Senior Colton Allen (Roanoke, Texas.) was the other Crusader to notch multiple shots with two, and hit one shot on goal.

Overall, Colorado College outdid the guests in the shots category with 18 compared to nine. UD did aim six of its shots on goal, and attempted five of them in the first half.

An opening stanza for both squads featured a back-and-forth battle with neither team producing much momentum. The Tigers held a 6-5 edge in shooting during that half, and the scoreboard remained blank on both sides heading to intermission.

Colorado College received a goal in the 76th minute by Nathan Anderson to lift the team to the only advantage for either side in this match. Cam Stopforth and Jack McCormick were responsible on the scoring play with a double assist.

Before Holdridge's improbable netter at the 89:37 mark, Theo Hooker (1-1-2) blanked the Navy and White throughout the match. Hooker allowed the lone blemish at that juncture of the game, and has notched five saves. Three of his five total occurred in the first stanza.

Also tallying shots for UD included: Luke Schwarz (Tucson, Ariz.), Jake Schnell (Austin, Texas), Thomas Struxness (Universal City, Texas), Andrew Ciancone (Houston, Texas), and Trae Hampton (Paducah, K.Y.).

Dallas held the Tigers' offense in check, despite allowing five overtime shot attempts, four in the second 10-minute stretch of overtime action. This disparity in shot attempts happened with four for CC in the final overtime half.

The Crusaders and Colorado College together combined for 35 fouls with UD being outdone 15-16-13 in this game.

Junior Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas) worked 110 minutes in the goal, while stopping six balls for saves.
