YEAR IN REVIEW: Men's Soccer

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team went 10-8-2 on the season and posted a 6-6-2 mark within the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The league record was the best for the Crusaders since joining four years ago. It's also the first winning campaign for UD since 2008 when the squad notched 16 triumphs. Dallas claimed the No. 4-Seed in the SCAC Tournament and was defeated 1-0 by the No.5-Seed Texas Lutheran University in the Quarterfinals.

NOTABLE MOMENTS

  • Eight victories counted towards shutouts for Dallas.
  • Opened season on four-game winning streak, and blanked opponents in each contest on the stretch.
  • Junior Colton Allen led the squad with eight goals and 17 points.
  • Senior Matthew Wise matched five netters with that amount of assists to rank second on team with 15 points.
  • Allen and sophomore Ben Mannings claimed a trio of game-winning goals to tie atop the leaderboard.
  • Dallas produced a five-win improvement from the previous two seasons.
  • Claimed a season-best five-game winning streak on season.
  • The Navy and White displayed a 5-3-2 record at the friendly confines, including a 2-2 draw versus No. 14 Colorado College.
  • Allen scored the first Crusader goal, which was the difference in a 1-0 triumph in the season-opener against Concordia University. Sophomore Barton Holdridge and freshman Luke Schwartz contributed assists in the sequence.
  • Holdridge headed the game-winner in the 87th minute of a 2-1 win at Austin College on Oct. 21. It was the Fort Worth, Texas, native's lone netter on the fall.
