SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team (10-8-2) dropped a 2-0 contest at Texas Lutheran University (9-8-2) on Friday in the first round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) tournament.

A pair of goals by Texas Lutheran's Isaac Lopez in each half was plenty to secure a birth into the semifinals on Saturday.

Dallas was limited to five shots, and placed two on goal in the setback.

In the opening half, TLU claimed a 9-1 shot advantage, but the Crusaders only blemish was a penalty kick in the 18th minute by Lopez. Dallas trailed 1-0 at intermission.

The navy and white applied more pressure in the second frame in search for the equalizer, but were unable to nip the deficit. UD managed four shots and kept the Bulldogs to five in that half.

Lopez sent another netter at the 67:40 mark to double the edge for the black and gold, as Jerry Kent set up the sequence with a nice cross finished near right post.

Junior forward Colton Allen (Roanoke, Texas) led the Crusaders with two shots and placed one on goal. Sophomore forward Ben Mannings (Bath, England) was a perfect one-for-one on shot on goal percentage in the contest. Also adding an attempt were freshman midfielder Luke Schwarz (Tucson, Ariz.) and sophomore forward Barton Holdridge (Fort Worth, Texas).

Drawing the start for UD at goalkeeper was sophomore P.J. Hasson (Fairvax, Va.), who collected four saves and allowed the penalty kick scoring result through 45 minutes. Fellow classmate Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas) played the second stanza between the posts, and turned away two shots on goal for saves.

The 2014 campaign has concluded for the Dallas men's soccer team.
