UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS ATHLETICS

@UDallasMSoccer Prepared for SCAC Tournament this Weekend

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team (10-7-2, 6-6 SCAC) begins the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) tournament on Friday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m.

UD enters as the fourth seeded team, and will face host school, Texas Lutheran (8-8-2, 6-7-1 SCAC), who is slotted in the fifth spot. The Crusaders prevailed in the season series, claiming both victories at each venue, 1-0.

Dallas enters coming off a tie in its latest outing, drawing 1-1 versus Austin College, on "senior day." In that contest, senior midfielder Matthew Wise (Portland, Ore.) notched a penalty kick for the lone goal his squad gained. It was enough to tie the affair in the 33rd minute.

After dropping the first four matches within league play, the navy and white produced a torrid stretch of winning six of seven games, all against SCAC opponents. The one contest not counted for a win resulted in a 2-2 tie with No. 14 Colorado College at the time.

Of those six triumphs, five were decided by a single goal, which counts towards the Crusaders' 7-2 record in such matches.

As a team, Dallas has been outscored 22-20, hitting 10 netters per half. The team's total ranks third in the conference behind Trinity and Colorado College. The Crusaders have posted more saves, collecting 104 compared to 92 by their foes. Their amount of stoppers also rank third among SCAC opponents.

Individually pacing UD offensively is junior midfielder Colton Allen (Roanoke, TX) with eight goals and 17 points. Right behind him is Wise with five goals and 15 points.

Other scorers with multiple netters include sophomore forward Ben Mannings (Bath, England) and senior midfielder Nathan Nwaeze (Mansfield, Texas) with three apiece.

A win for Dallas on Friday will advance to face top seeded No. 2 Trinity University on Saturday. Kickoff versus the ranked National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) opponent would be slated at 11:30 a.m.
