UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS ATHLETICS

@UDallasMSoccer 2, Schreiner 1

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team (5-5, 1-4 SCAC) earned its first conference win over Schreiner University (3-5, 1-5 SCAC) on Friday afternoon. Dallas's victory ends a five-game losing slide for the navy and white, including four-straight to begin Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

Senior midfielder Nathan Nwaeze (Mansfield, Texas) was the only offense the Crusaders required on the field, as he netted both goals in the affair. The pair of scoring results are the first on the campaign for Friday's hero.

Nwaeze's first occurred early in the match, lifting Dallas to a 1-0 edge at the 4:28 mark. Things would remain in favor of the home squad at intermission with the scoreboard displaying the same result.

Schreiner erased the margin in the 50th minute of the second half, as Justin Edwards tallied an unassisted goal.

Friday's heroics would be brought by Nwaeze again, as senior midfielder Matthew Wise (Portland, Ore.) provided an assist in the game-winner. The senior's netter propelled the Crusaders to a 2-1 advantage at the 58:51 minute mark.

On the day, Dallas attempted 20 shots over the Mountaineers' six in the game. Wise boasted a game-high, six total while Nwaeze was behind with five shots altogether. Both of his shots on goal were accurately placed beyond the goalie.

Also tabbed with multi-shot performances were sophomore forward Barton Holdridge (Fort Worth, Texas) and freshman midfielder Luke Schwarz (Tucson, Ariz.) collecting a pair each.

Splitting time in the net were sophomore goalkeepers P.J. Hasson (Fairfax, Va.) and Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas).

Each worked a 45 minute half, with Hasson drawing the start and earning three saves. Gamueda (4-3) assumed duties in the second frame, picking up a save while facing three shots.
