Men's Soccer rallies to 3-2 decision over Fontbonne (MO) in season-opener

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team (1-0) overcame a 2-0 deficit Saturday afternoon in their home/season-opener, persevering to a 3-2 victory over Fontbonne University (0-1) at Crusader Field.

Junior midfielder Nathan Nwaeze (Mansfield, Texas) scored two goals on the day, including the game-winner in the 85th-minute from junior defender James Bernard (Sugar Land, Texas) to dispell the Griffins.

Fontbonne opened scoring with goals from Josh Schultz (40th minute) and Zach Schuchardt (46th minute). Joe Tibbles assisted Schuchardt's tally.

Junior forward Mikhail Castillo (Round Rock, Texas) deposited Dallas' first score of 2013 on a 61st-minute helper from junior defender Amir Nail (Houston).

Nwaeze tied the game, 2-2 in the 76th-minute, on an assist from freshman forward/midfielder Barton Holdridge (Fort Worth, Texas).

Freshman goalkeeper P.J. Hasson (Fairfax, Va.) made six saves in net for Dallas, before being relieved by fellow classmate Tino Gamueda (Lubbock, Texas) for the second half. Seeing each Crusader netminder surrender a goal, the Dallas defense ended with seven shot blocks. Gamueda needed one save in the winning bid.
