Men's Soccer cruises to 2-0 victory over Schreiner University in home-opener

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team (2-1) is back in the win column after orchestrating a 2-0 performance over Schreiner University (SU), Saturday afternoon at Crusader Field.

Dallas was propelled by a strong defensive effort, led by sophomore center-back James Bernard (Sugar Land, Texas) and freshman left-back Colton Allen (Roanoke, Texas).

Bernard broke the scoreless tie in the 14th-minute on a well-placed cross from Aaron Hegemann (Beaumont, Texas), who notched the assist.

After a long run in the 54th minute, Allen crossed a ball that a Mountaineer defender booted in for an own goal.

The two-goal cushion was more than enough for senior goalkeeper James Kerin (East Greenwich, R.I.), who recorded his second shutout of the season.

Kerin finished with six saves from 13 SU (0-3) shots, while Dallas garnered five shots on goal from 10 attempts.

Up next for Dallas is a home showdown versus Millsaps College (Miss.), an 11 a.m. tilt on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Crusader Field.
