Govea's OT tally lifts Men's Soccer to 1-0 win over Concordia University in season-opener

AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team (1-0) bested Concordia University, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon in thrilling fashion, behind freshman forward Cristian Govea's overtime heroics.

In his debut with the Crusaders, Govea (Houston, Texas) scored the only goal of the match just after the fourth-minute of the first overtime.

Following a save by senior goalkeeper James Kerin (East Greenwich, R.I.), Govea beat Tornado goalkeeper Nick Martin to the near-post from just outside the six-yard box for the unassisted goal.

Concordia (0-1) controlled all of regulation play, outshooting Dallas 29-8 through 90 minutes. Kerin denied seven of the 31-shots attempted by the Tornados to earn the shutout win.
