Men's Soccer falls in OT at Austin College, concludes season
In their final match of the 2010 season, the University of Dallas men's soccer team (7-10) fell in overtime to the Austin College Kangaroos in Sherman, Texas.
Knotted at 1-1 through regulation, the contest finally came to a decision when Austin scored 9:46 into the first overtime period.
The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead when senior co-captain Ryan Meske (Niwot, Col./Niwot H.S.) scored at the 11:40 mark in the first half. He was assisted on a pass from junior defender Preston Waltrip (Derby, Kan./Derby H.S.). The duo of Meske and Waltrip combined for nine shots, including two on target.
Freshman midfielder Adam Kaftan (Omaha, Neb./Creighton Prep) also contributed a shot on goal in the effort.
Freshman goalkeeper Sam Carter (Chicago, Ill.) faced 28 shots, saving seven out of nine shots on net in the losing effort.
