Men's Soccer can't solve Howard Payne

Despite outshooting the Wasps of Howard Payne University, 19-13, Tuesday afternoon, in Brownwood, Texas, the visiting University of Dallas men's soccer team (7-9) struggled to solve the opposing keeper.

UD fell behind 3:29 into the first half when HPU scored the first and only goal of the match.

Sophomore forward Amir Nail (Houston, Texas/St. Pius X) and junior midfielder Michael Chapman (Madison, Miss./St. Joseph) each led UD in shots with four a piece, while senior forward Ryan Meske (Niwot, Colo./Niwot H.S.), senior midfielder Sam Sheetz (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Denis J. O'Connell) and freshman defender Braden Sanchez (Edmond, Okla./Edmond Memorial), each contributed two. Crusader freshman keeper Sam Carter (Chicago, Ill.) made five saves on six shots on net, against 13 total shots.

The Crusaders will remain on the road to face in-state rival Austin College at Kangaroo field on Saturday, Oct. 30.  The start is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Sherman, Texas.
