Men's Soccer topples Dallas Christian
On Wednesday, Oct. 20, the University of Dallas men's soccer team (6-8) was victorious in a road test, defeating Dallas Christian College, 3-1.
Dallas Christian tallied the first score, and only one of the first half, when Gerson Machado beat freshman UD goalkeeper Sam Carter (Chicago/Ill.) in the 8th minute.
In the 62nd minute, UD junior defender Blaise DuFrain (Manassas, Va./Seton Home School) kicked in the equalizer, off an Amir Nail assist. From this point, UD didn't look back.
Freshman defender Braden Sanchez (Edmond, Okla./Edmond Memorial H.S.) registered the game winning goal for UD, with his 71st-minute score. Assists were credited to a pair of freshman midfielders, in Michael O'Donnell (Omaha, Neb./Mount Michael Benedictine), and Adam Kaftan (Omaha, Neb./Creighton Prep), who started the play with a corner kick.
Four minutes later, senior midfielder/forward Ryan Meske (Niwot, Colo./Niwot H.S.) gave UD some insurance, when he scored the game's final goal at the 75-minute mark.
It will be 'Senior Day' for UD's next match, as the Crusaders take on Colorado College on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 1:00 p.m. in what will be their final home tilt of the season.
