Men's Soccer suffers road defeat to Piedmont College

The University of Dallas men's soccer team (2-5) fell 0-1 to the Piedmont College Lions, in Demorest, Ga., Saturday afternoon.

UD held the edge 7-6 in terms of shots, with every shot for the Crusaders registering as a shot on goal. Two of UD's shots on goal were from the foot of senior co-captain Ryan Meske (Niwot/Colo./Niwot H.S.), while Adam Kaftan (Omaha , Neb. /Creighton Prep), Amir Nail (Houston , Texas /St. Pius X H.S.), John Owen (Mount Jackson, Va./St Gregory's Academy), Preston Waltrip (Derby, Kan. /Derby H.S.) and Alex Lebl (Flowood , Miss./Jackson Prep) notched one of their own. Additionally, UD was given four cornerkicks, whereas Piedmont had five.

This tightly contested match was decided in the 82nd minute when Piedmont's Nick Weatherby recorded his seventh goal of the season, off a Miles Flynn assist.

Brian Gaid was the goalie of note for Piedmont and netted the shutout victory, while UD freshman Anthony Zaragoza ( El Paso,Texas /Franklin City H.S.) suffered the loss.

Dallas will next travel to Maryville, Tenn., to square off with Maryville College on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 12:00 p.m.
