Dallas Men’s Soccer Defeats Bethany College with Ease
The University of Dallas men's soccer team played Bethany College today at home and won the game 4-1, bringing their overall record to 2-2. The game started off well for the UD squad with a goal by defender Joey Killion (Katy, TX/Katy H.S.) off a corner kick by Amir Nail (Houston, TX/St. Pius X H.S.) eight minutes into the first half. Five minutes later, senior midfielder Sam Sheetz (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Denis J. O'Connell H.S.) scored off of a long pass from senior co-captain and defender Kurtis Baker (Roanoke, TX/Northwest H.S.). Nearing the end of the first half, senior co-captain Ryan Meske (Niwot, CO/Niwot H.S.) received a yellow card, and scored his third goal of the season a minute later off a pass from Nail to put UD up 3-0 entering halftime.
In the second half, things got a little intense with UD receiving three yellow cards, including a bench yellow, and a red card on Preston Waltrip (Derby, KS/Derby H.S.) with about ten minutes left to play. However, before the offense, Waltrip scored the final UD goal off of a pass from Sheetz to put UD up 4-0. Bethany didn't go down without a fight and with approximately 25 minutes remaining in the game, they scored their lone goal.
The 2-2 Dallas team makes the trip to Conway, AR for a matchup with Hendrix College on September 19. The Sunday game starts at 1:00pm.
