Dallas Defeats ETBU 2-1

The Dallas men's soccer team won their first game of the year Saturday evening by the count of 2-1 in front the home crowd over visiting East Texas Baptist University. Dallas got on top fast scoring the first goal of the game less than two minutes into the contest on a redirection by senior forward and co-captain Ryan Meske (Niwot, CO/Niwot H.S.). The goal, Meske's first of the season, came on a cross from senior midfielder Sam Sheetz (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Denis J. O'Connell H.S.). Sophomore forward Amir Nail (Houston, TX/St. Pius X H.S.) also received an assist on the play. 11 minutes into the second half, ETBU knotted the score up again at one a piece. Dallas would reclaim the lead however 17 minutes later when Meske drew a foul within the box and knocked in the ensuing penalty kick. The goal proved to be the game winner and gave Dallas the lead for good with only 22 minutes left to play.

UD is scheduled to play next on September 17 when they host visiting Bethany College at 5:00pm in Irving, TX.
