Crusaders Overwhelm Southwestern Adventist

The UD men's soccer team defeated Southwestern Adventist University 7-0 on an overcast day in Irving, TX. UD opened up with 2 early goals and took a 4-0 lead into half time and the defense held down to preserve the shut out. UD now improves to 3-5-2.

Freshman forward Garrett Johnson (Lewisville, TX/Lewisville H.S.) registered the two early goals in back to back fashion, while the other five goals were scored by: junior midfielder/defender Sam Sheetz (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Dennis J. O'Connell H.S.), junior midfielder/defender Steven Harrill (Durham, NC/Cardinal Gibbons H.S.), freshman forward Thomas Velie (San Antonio, TX/James Madison H.S.), sophomore defender Travis DeLeon (Hinsdale, IL) and sophomore defender Derek Yoder(Houston, TX/Tomball H.S.). Johnson's two goals opened up the game and sophomore midfielder Michael Chapman (Madison, MS/St. Joseph Catholic H.S.) and freshman defender/midfielder Amir Nail (Houston, TX/St. Pius X H.S.) provided the assists. Junior defender Tristan Voss (Watuaga, TX/Central H.S.) assisted Yoder's goal. Harrill's goal was assisted by freshman midfielder Blake Bonilla (Round Rock, TX/Stony Point H.S.), and Harrill also recorded an assist on DeLeon's goal game ending goal.

With renewed confidence, the team looks forward to their next game on Saturday, October 10 at home against Le Tourneau University. The start time for the match is 4:00pm.
