A3DI Names 2009 All-Independent Mens Soccer Teams

KANSAS CITY, MO – The 2009 All-Independent Men's Soccer teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents.

Offensive Player of the Year
Ryan Meske, University of Dallas, JR, Forward, Niwot, Colo. – Scored seven goals and had nine assists in 18 games. Led the Crusaders this season in points, goals and assists.

Defensive Player of the Year
Josh Miller, Nebraska Wesleyan University, SR, Goalkeeper, Rapid City, South Dak. – Allowed only 16 goals in 18 games (0.85 goals-against average) for the 7-7-4 Prairie Wolves. His seven shutouts pushed his career total to 24, the third best mark in school history. Miller averaged five saves per game (91 total saves).

Rookie of the Year
Joey Killion, University of Dallas, FR, Defender, Houston, Tex. – Killion was the first freshman in 11 years to start at center back for Dallas. He led a defense that allowed fewer than 3.4 shots on goal in the final eight matches.

Coach of the Year
Eddie Carrillo, Chapman University – Carillo led the Panthers to an 11-5-2 record and a berth in the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. It was Chapman's first NCAA soccer appearance in 10 years.

The All-Independent Men's Soccer teams were selected by the men's soccer coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 14 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
