UD Men Tie Millikin, 1-1.

After 110 minutes of soccer including two overtime periods that produced no winner, UD and Millikin settled for a 1-1 tie. It took both teams less than 25 minutes to put points on the board, with Millikin scoring only 21:30 into the game only to watch Dallas turn around and score 1 minute later at the 22:30 mark forcing a war of attrition that would last the remaining 87 and a half minutes. Senior forward Mike McIlhon (San Diego, CA/St. Augustine H.S.) scored UD’s only goal when he leashed a shot from a distance that found the very inside of the far post and the back of the net. Freshman Garrett Johnson (Lewisville, TX/Lewisville H.S.) and sophomore Michael Chapman (Madison, MS/St. Joseph Catholic School) were credited with the assists. Junior goalie Paul Stauduhar (Longwood, FL/Lake Mary H.S.) made a stop on the rest of Millikin’s attempts saving 5 shots on goal. The game marked the first tie of the season and placed UD’s record at 2-3-1.

Crusader soccer will begin their road trip with a visit to East Texas Baptist University after the weekend. The two teams are schedule to meet on Monday, September 21st at 7:00pm in Marshall, TX.
