Meske, Fuchs Named Association of Division III Independents Players of the Week

KANSAS CITY, MO – University of Dallas junior midfielder/forward Ryan Meske (Niwot, CO/Niwot H.S.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men's soccer Player of the Week. In three games, Meske led his team with two goals and four assists. The Crusaders went 2-1 on the week, but lost in two overtimes in the North Eastern Athletic Conference championship game.

University of Dallas sophomore rightside hitter Danielle Fuchs (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne H.S.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week. Fuchs led her squad in kills with 58 and had just 14 errors in 122 attempts, leaving her with a .341 attack percentage over five matches. She also led the team in service aces with 10, and added 39 digs and nine block assists. Fuchs averaged 3.87 kills and 2.6 digs per set on the week as the Crusaders went 5-0 and claimed the North Eastern Athletic Conference championship.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 17 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in nine sports in 2008-09. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it also will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of nine sports this year.

All competing student-athletes from the Association's 17 members were eligible for the award. Each school was allowed to nominate its top performing male and female student-athletes from November. The award recipients were selected after a vote of the Association's Student-Athlete Recognition Committee.
