Dallas Men Suffer Home Loss
The Crusaders lost a tough one Friday afternoon, allowing two
second half goals to McMurry University including the game winner
with only 4:45 left after entering the half astride a 2-1 lead. UD
wasted no time entering the game, finding the back of the net
merely 1:24 into the game courtesy of a header by senior midfielder
Matt Stamper (Bentonville, AR/Bentonville H.S.) that was picked out
of the air off the foot of junior forward Ryan Meske (Niwot,
CO/Niwot H.S.). McMurry managed to even the score at 32 minutes
only to watch Meske convert on a free kick moments before the end
of the half that gave UD the 2-1 lead. UD having outshot McMurry
19-11, held the advantage until the 81st minute when McMurry snuck
two goals in before the end of regulation. The contest also
featured four yellow cards and plenty of tension as emotions began
to a boil. The loss marked the first at home in five years. UD was
28-0-2 at home before tonight's loss.
UD men’s soccer will aim to recover on Sunday when they face
off against Hendrix College at home at 1:00pm.
