UD Men's Lacrosse Joins Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference

CARMEL, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) announced Thursday that four colleges have accepted a membership invitation to immediately join the men's league.

Centenary College of Louisiana, Colorado College, the University of Dallas, and Southwestern (Texas) University become the HCLC's new members. The four schools had previously held membership within the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) but will compete within the framework of the HCLC beginning this spring.

"I am extremely grateful to Commissioner Jay Jones and the HCLC leadership for working together to come up with a membership solution that will benefit both groups of schools," said SCAC Commissioner Dwayne Hanberry. "There are still some details to work out but providing our four men's programs access to an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship is something we've been working toward for quite some time."

The new members will join the current HCLC men's members of Anderson University, Earlham College, Hanover College and Mount St. Joseph University which will make up the 'North Division'. The four new members will comprise the 'South Division'. The top-two teams from each division following the regular season will meet at a neutral location for the HCLC Championship. The winner of the HCLC Championship will earn the automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament as the HCLC representative.
