UD Men's Lacrosse Unable to Answer Centenary on Sunday

SHREVEPORT, La. – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team played its first game of the season and was involved in a competitive matchup at Centenary College on Sunday afternoon. After grabbing a 2-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter, the offense sputtered for UD and the Gents scored four in the second to take the lead and two more in the third. Centenary led by as many as five (7-2).

The Crusaders were led by Matt Senter who had a hat trick in his first collegiate game. Austin Gibbons (St. Charles, Ill.) chimed in with the other goal, which came from Senter on an assist.

Dallas goalkeeper Michael White (Colleyville, Texas) did his best to keep the guests in the game, as he notched 24 saves against 31 shots for a 77.4 saves percentage). It is a top-10 total for saves in a match.

The Gibbons goal in the last three minutes of the opening stanza was a man-up goal. The Gents got the scoring started with an extra man advantage about two minutes into the period. The Maroon and White went on top with 8:21 left. Senter's late goals were all the Crusaders had left late in the game.

Five players contributed to the seven goals with Jacob Miller and Mark Temple having two. Thomas Siskron made seven saves against 11 shots allowed. The Gents took 56 shots compared to UD's 13. Both teams had six face offs won, with John Reynolds (Fallbrook, Calif.) winning each of them.

Dallas heads to Hendrix College on March 13. A start time is still being determined.
