THE LEAD VS. HENDRIX COLLEGE
The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team picks up its season after a lengthy break with a home match versus Hendrix College on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Crusaders (0-1) fell to Huntingdon College on February 8 in its home opener.
Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) has scored the team's only three goals this season. Hector Pinell-Sanchez (Manor, Texas) is second on the squad for shots taken with four and located three on cage. Michael White (Colleyville, Texas) is one-of-three goalkeepers that has seen action and made 14 saves in 30 minutes.
Austin Gibbons (St. Charles, Ill.) netted two goals and five ground balls last season to Hendrix in the match at Crusader Field. The final was 25-7 with UD falling.
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Hendrix College (2-2) has bounced back from back-to-back setbacks to start the year and has won its last two outings. This includes a 6-5 victory at fellow UD opponent Huntingdon College. The Warriors are 2-1 on the road.
Hendrix has netted 32 goals and 20 assists. Spencer Dorfneilsen leads the team in points (14), goals (8), and assists (6). He has taken 27 shots and made 20 on cage for team-highs in both. A pair of players have eclipsed 20 ground balls with Patrick Dellinger (23) and Elias Ramos (21). Dellinger has forced 14 caused turnovers.
