UD Men's Lacrosse Announces 2020 Schedule; 8 Home Matches this Spring

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team is working to finalize its schedule for the 2020 season, which opens in the next month. Keith Loftis begins his second season leading the Crusaders after arriving about a year ago.

He has pieced together a schedule that will feature Dallas in front of the home crowd most of the spring, including a stretch of five straight over February and March. Overall the Crusaders play eight home matches and have two other contests within a friendly driving range including the season-opener at TCU, who is a club opponent.

That scrimmage is slated for Feb. 1 and is part of a trio of outings scattered throughout the month. UD will also play host to Huntingdon College (Feb. 8) and Hendrix College (Feb. 29).

The five-game home stint carries into the next month with Hilbert College (Mar. 3), Franciscan University (Mar. 10), and UMass Boston (Mar. 16). The only lengthy road travel for the Crusaders will be next at Cleary University and Adrian College on the 19th and 22nd, respectively. Dallas ends March back home with Kalamazoo College on the 25th.

That contest begins a three-game home stand with the April ledger featuring all Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) teams. Johnson & Wales University-Denver will be in Irving for the second times since 2018 on Apr. 5 for "Senior Day" and Southwestern University wraps up the home matches on the ninth to send everyone home for Easter Break.

Dallas concludes the regular season at Centenary College on Apr. 18, which will be the first time the program is affiliated back in the league since 2013. Centenary was a club team a season ago. The Crusaders went 3-0 against club schools in 2019 with 70-14 edge in goals scored.

The Crusaders were the third seed in the SCAC Tournament which was scheduled on rotation to be in Irving. They fell to Southwestern in the first round, with top-seeded Colorado College prevailing in the Title Game.

This season, the SCAC Tournament will feature the top four teams at Colorado Springs, Colorado, on April 24 and 26. Five teams, including newcomers Centenary, will be vying for a spot.  This is the second year for the SCAC to return to sponsoring lacrosse.

The Crusaders feature two seniors in Jake Frederick and Bogar Trout III who are in the program's record books for assists and ground balls, respectively, for a single season and career.. The team's offense has also set record numbers over the previous two campaigns with points, goals, and assists.
